Membership in the Keyport Yacht Club
In 2008 KYC will celebrate our centennial anniversary. Since the incorporation of KYC in 1908 our membership has been engaged in the pursuit of the activities as stated in our Constitution and Bylaws:
“The objectives of this Club shall be to promote yachting, foster other aquatic sports, promote the science of seamanship, encourage social events among it’s members and with other Clubs and maintain a clubhouse, pier, anchorage and other facilities for the use and benefit of it’s members and their guests.”
How to Join
All are welcome to apply for membership to Keyport Yacht Club. The process for election to membership is not difficult and starts with contacting the Membership Committee via the email link: membership@keyportyachtclub.com or calling the club at 732-739-0727 to request an “Application for Membership” form. A member of the Membership Committee will take you through the application process. Once application and eligibility criteria are met you may be voted into membership by the Board of Governors.
Facilities
The facilities provided by KYC to the membership are truly world class. One of the most spectacular water views to be found on the eastern seaboard of the United States accompanies every member and guest in and around the modern Clubhouse, Anchorage and waterside facilities.
Meticulously maintained launches run by licensed, uniformed operators shuttle the membership and guests between their moored yachts and the three hundred foot pier and floating docks the Clubhouse overlooks.
The beautiful and modern member built Clubhouse and bar are the social epicenter of Keyport Yacht Club. For our member’s and their guests entertainment, the Club hosts a year round calendar of dinners, cocktail parties, family picnics and social events from Easter Egg Hunts to Navigation courses to Wine Tasting parties to Sail Racing clinics. Well attended and always fun, both the boating and non-boating social membership enjoy the time spent with family and friends at KYC socials.
The KYC newsletter, “Now Hear This” provides the membership news of the goings on around the Club as well as informational and entertaining articles contributed by members.
Racers
For sail racers KYC has friendly yet competitive club racing. Wednesday evening and weekend series racing spans the sailing season from May through October. Filling out the remainder of the racing calendar, Club hosted regattas and interclub racing bring the regions best sailors to the Club to compete. An ever growing small boat racing fleet provides competitive fun for both participants and the membership watching from the Clubhouse.
Cruisers
KYC has a very active cruising membership, both power and sail. Scheduled and impromptu flotillas regularly cruise to many of the hundreds of destinations that lie within a few hours travel from the Club.
Junior and Adult Sailing Programs
For the Junior sailors, KYC provides a 7 week summer sailing program for weekdays and Saturdays managed by parents and professional sailing instructors, taught in the Club owned fleet of small boats. Adult sailing courses and boats are also offered on weekends.
Member Run
All of these facilities and activities take management and skill to operate. Keyport Yacht Club is a non-profit, membership managed, volunteer based Yacht Club. Members are encouraged to participate in the many wide ranging committees running the Club’s activities. Whether your interest lies in finance, gardening, dock building, yacht racing, entertaining, governing, cruising or any number of the approximately 20 committees managing the Club, KYC has a need for your involvement.
Little in life is more enjoyable than sharing common interests and your creative talents in the pursuit of activities you enjoy. Keyport Yacht Club welcomes you to join the “Best on the Bay” and to participate in our second century of friendship.
