Directions to Keyport Yacht Club

Keyport Yacht Club is located in Monmouth County in Central New Jersey. To get here use the Garden State Parkway, north or south. Take exit number 117, Route 35/36, Keyport/Hazlet. After the toll plaza merge towards the left onto NJ Highway 36 East. Once on Highway 36 bear right and use the Broad Street jug handle. Cross over Highway 36 and head down Broad Street through two traffic lights. Make a right at the next right. KYC is approximately 1/3 mile on the left hand side of the street past the fire station.

By Sea - Hail on Channel 9

KYC is located on the southwest shore of Raritan Bay, southwest of New York Harbor's Lower Bay, and south of Staten Island. You can enter Raritan Bay from the north by sailing between Staten Island and Hoffman Island after clearing the Verrazano Narrows.

Do not attempt to sail between Hoffman Island and the smaller island to the south (Swinburn Island); there is some serious shoaling there. Be aware of some shoaling on the south shore of Staten Island east of the Great Kills mark.

You can enter Raritan Bay from the South by rounding Sandy Hook and steering due west. The distance to KYC from the east end of Raritan Bay is about 10 nautical miles.Set your waypoint to the Keyport entrance buoy (green lighted buoy #1), located at N40° 28.4' by W74° 11.0' . Being sure to keep this mark to your port side, steer 220 degrees magnetic for 1.5 miles which will bring you to the entrance to Keyport Channel, marked by Keyport #3. The KYC anchorage is located on both sides of this channel just beyond Keyport Channel marker #5.
