2018 Cruising Conversations at KYC Provide Practical Tips and Ideas for Cruisers

Cruising Conversation #2: Dinner in a Pot. Why Not?

KYC Cruising Chair Sherry Dietz cooked up a scrumptious one-pot seafood and pasta dish during Cruising Conversation #2 "Provisioning" Sunday afternoon, March 11. Sherry also demonstrated how to layer vegetables, spices and fish in individual foil packet servings for cooking on the grill -- a smart cooking option when it is hot below decks.

Art Femenella also pitched in with his personal hints on cooking aboard. Tips shared by Sherry and Art included "Load heavy cans in the boat before it is launched...bring plenty of toilet paper, you can use it for a pillow...Livoti's on Route 34 in Aberdeen is good for stocking fresh victuals, and buy your wine in cardboard cartons." Just a few of the dozens, perhaps hundreds of ideas shared. "If your boat sinks, you can use the wine carton as a life preserver," Art quipped.

Cruising Conversation #3 -- "Do's and Don'ts of Cruising PLUS! Cruising Destinations" -- will be held April 2 at 2 pm. Whether your idea of cruising is a maiden trek across the bay to Great Kills, or an expedition to Maine, you should put Cruising Conversation #3 on your calendar. It is sure to be both informative and fun!

For those who missed it, copies of Sherry's Provisioning tips are available on the KYC Cruising Page
