US Sailing
KYC is a member of US Sailing, the governing body for yacht racing at all levels in the US. US Sailing publishes the Racing Rules of Sailing (and you should have a copy!). They also offer courses in Race Management and Sailing Instruction.
PHRF Mid-Atlantic
Regular racers at KYC are expected to have a current handicap issued by PHRF-MidAtlantic. And you will NEED one to sail in regattas outside of KYC!

Regattas are held at our sister clubs around the area over the course of the summer. And sailing in these regattas, along with our own Bill Volk Regatta, can qualify you for the Best of the Bay trophies.
