Mike Vinik participates in the Annual Great North River Tugboat Race & Competition
KYC Members Mike Vinik and Sherry Dietz compete aboard the "Liz Vinik" in the annual event
On September 9, 2018 Mike Vinik and his vessel Liz Vinik competed in the 2018 Working Harbor Great North River Tug Race and Competition. Among the crew of approximately 20 people were fellow KYC member Sherry Dietz and AHYC member Edwin Muth, who is known to many KYC members.
On the scene reporter Sherry Dietz reported the following:
"To spite the less-than-stellar weather, Mike had about 20 people on his tug (besides crew)who all seemed to have a ball - I know I did! There were about 10 tugs in the event, and they were really great to see up close. This was a total bucket list item for me."
Mike and crew of the Liz Vinik walked away with the following awards:
1. Best Appearing Vessel (aka prettiest tug)
2. Fastest Vessel Group A (for larger tugs)
3. Best Tattoo - Male
4. Best Tattoo - Female
